Why did you choose to become a lawyer?
My friends refer to me as a “protector” and I have always felt drawn to those who needed help. I think every person deserves a fair and just presence in the court system.
The only job I interviewed for immediately after out of law school was with the Jefferson County Public Defender’s Office. I knew that I would have the opportunity to be in court all day honing my skills in fighting for the due process rights of people, some who did deserve to be in the system at all. It was a privilege to have work with them and to have been able to walk away with so much courtroom experience at a young age.
What makes DeRenzo Law Office, PLLC different from other law firms?
An understanding of people, which allows for good relationships with other attorneys and respect for, and from, the judges. Additionally, insight into developing a strategy for assisting clients in a successful resolution of their case.
What is your personal philosophy on helping people?
As a protector, I work tirelessly to ensure that my clients are represented competently and with financial efficiency.
I understand that my clients deserve an attorney with knowledge of the legal aspects of their case and one that uses that knowledge to effectuate their best results, while also understanding that they don’t have unlimited funds to spend on a legal matter.
Tell us about a case you are particularly proud of:
After a trial, I won the right of a father to enroll his child in the school of his choice over the objection of the mother even though they had joint custody.
What advice do you most often give your clients?
Don’t listen to the experience of your friends even when they were involved in the same type of case. Your case will be very different as each family is unique.
We love our customers, so feel free to stop by during normal business hours.
